Ideally, it would be good to talk to your lawyer about what makes you unhappy or uncomfortable and to give that lawyer an opportunity to fix the problem. If you can't resolve your issues with your lawyer, you have the right to fire that lawyer and replace him. There are a couple of exceptions to the client's right to hire a new lawyer. First, if the new lawyer has a conflict of interest, the judge may refuse to allow that lawyer to represent the defendant. As a general rule, when a client decides to hire an attorney in a criminal case, he has the right to choose any lawyer who is authorized to practice before the court in which the case is pending.
