Can the same firm represent plaintiff and defendant?

A firm contains many individual attorneys. A single lawyer cannot represent both parties. Generally, an attorney cannot represent two plaintiffs in separate actions against the same defendant if they know or have reason to believe that there will not be enough insurance or assets to satisfy both potential claims. As to whether both categories of plaintiffs will compete for the same assets to meet their demands, there is no indication, at this time, that the defendants' resources are so limited as to generate that type of conflict for you.
